I lost interest in this show a couple of minutes in, when Emalia’s shirt ripped unnecessarily to reveal her chest. At least the show’s quick to appeal to its core audience.
It’s overall a fun time if you don’t dwell on the potential pitfalls of racial representation and lack of gender parity, but in the big picture they could be very well minor contrivances to the story.
Compelling female characters with a tight-knit relationship, effective fantasy writing, and lovely visuals—spring is here, and we’re off to a good start!
We were truly spoiled for choice with shojosei for Winter 2026, from early contenders for anime of the year to some truly awful dreck. Spring doesn’t bring us quite the same embarrassment of riches, but there’s still a meaty selection available.
