With Crunchyroll and Funimation already announcing their fall simulcast plans, it’s time for Sentai Filmworks to get into the mix and they did so yesterday with a press release that is a slam dunk!… I’ll see myself out now.

In the press release, they revealed it that Sentai Filmworks has acquired the worldwide streaming rights (excluding Asia) to the upcoming basketball series Ahiru no Sora based on the manga from author Takeshi Hinata. The series will debut in Japan on October 2, 2019, though an exact streaming premiere date outside Japan was not revealed in the release.

Sentai Filmworks describes the story as follows:

He may be shorter in stature, but Sora Kurumatani can soar and score on the basketball court! With a passion for the sport he inherited from his mother, Sora vows to her that he’ll take top prize at a high school basketball tournament… but there’s one problem. His new school’s basketball club has turned into a hangout for delinquents! Will Sora’s sheer tenacity and amazing three-point shooting change their minds and get the club up and running again?

Shingo Tamaki (Aho-Girl) will direct the title at diomedea, with Keizou Kusakawa (Asura Cryin, Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha) serving as chief director. Yoshino Honda (Fuuka) is providing character designs, while Go Zappa (Shin Koihime Musō, Beatless) tackles series composition.

Takeshi Hinata’s Ahiru no Sora manga launched in the pages of Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine in 2003. To date, fifty compiled volumes have been released, with the latest hitting stores on November 16, 2018.
