Earlier today, the official Run With The Wind anime website updated with a new trailer and key visual for the show’s upcoming second cour. We break the details down below.
The two-minute teaser focuses on the main cast members as they go from their everyday routines, to running in the Hakone Ekiden. New opening theme song Kaze Tsuyoku, Kimi Atsuku (The Wind Is Strong, You’re On Fire) by Sky-Hi plays as a background track.
The image features the major cast members in their running gear as they rush toward a finish line.
Run With the Wind will return to Japanese TV on January 8.
Kazuya Nomura (Ghost In The Shell: The New Movie, Robotics;Notes) is directing Kaze ga Tsuyoku Fuiteiru at Production I.G., with Takahiro Chiba (Kamichu!, Occult Academy) providing character designs. Kohei Kiyasu is in charge of series composition for the project.
Sentai Filmworks currently holds the rights to the title, which they describe as:
Kakeru is a former elite runner in high school who finds himself down on his luck. After being chased for stealing food, he’s saved by Haiji, a Kansei University student and a fellow runner. Having nowhere else to go, Kakeru is convinced by Haiji to move into a dormitory with eight other strangers. Before Kakeru is even settled in his new home, Haiji announces his ambitious plans to enter all ten of them into one of the most prominent university relay marathons in Japan, the Hakone Ekiden. There’s just one small problem: with the exception of Haiji and Kakeru, none of the residents have ever run competitively before.
Shion Miura’s Kaze ga Tsuyoku Fuiteiru first hit bookstores in 2006, under Shinchosha’s main imprint. The series inspired a live-action adaptation, which hit Japanese TV in the Fall 2009 broadcast season, as well as a stage play that opened in February 2009.
