VIZ Media announced the news at their Anime NYC panel, and on Twitter. In their initial reveal, though, the company stated that the channel would launch on November 18.

Naruto aired from Fall 2002 through Winter 2007, spanning 220 episodes. Hayato Date (Saiyuki, Ultramarine Magmell) directed the title at Studio Pierrot, with Hirofumi Suzuki and Tetsuya Nishio (Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex – Individual Eleven, The Sky Crawlers) providing character designs.

VIZ Media describes the title as:

Deep within the Hidden Leaf Village, young ninja Naruto Uzumaki carries sealed within him the spirit of the Nine-Tailed Fox, which once almost destroyed the village. Always an outcast because of his secret, now Naruto battles alongside his teammates Sasuke and Sakura to prove to himself and everyone else that he’s the greatest ninja ever. But he’s got a long list of challenges to face before he gets there!
