Yes, you read that headline correctly; Hollywood director Zack Snyder is teaming up with longtime collaborator Jay Olivia and others to produce a Netflix original anime series that will deal with Norse mythology.

There aren’t a lot of details beyond that at this point but here is what we do know. Snyder will be teaming with Olivia, Deborah Snyder, and Wesley Coller to produce the animated series through Stone Quarry Animation. There was no timeline announced on when this project will be hitting the streaming service but we will keep you updated as more information is released.

In a statement, John Derderian, head of Anime programming for Netflix, had this to say:

“Zack Snyder’s innovation in visual storytelling has pushed the industry forward and established him as one of the most distinctive filmmakers of his generation. We are beyond excited to partner with him and his exceptional team to bring the iconic characters and stories of Norse mythology to life in his inimitable style.”
