Wait a minute. This isn’t Princess Nine

Earlier today, the official Hachigatsu no Cinderella Nine (Cinderella Nine In August) Twitter account announced that the property will receive an anime TV series. The first teaser video and visual were released. We break the details down below.

Trailer

The 42-second promo opens with live-action footage of an empty baseball park, as a siren wails in the distance. The silence is broken by a hollow “thok!” noise, as the camera cuts to a ball bouncing lazily past a base. The video then cuts to a brief shot of static text, as a narrator announce the show’s production.

Key Visual

The visual features thirteen of the game’s more prominent characters, drawn in chibi form. Each is holding a placard with a character, as they spell out the announcement notice.

Additional details regarding broadcast, staffing, and the like will be announced for the project this fall. The Akatsuki booth at Comiket 94 will sell merchandise based on the franchise.

The Hachigatsu no Cinderella Nine smartphone launched in June 2017 on iOS an Android. The free-to-start game currently boasts more than 100,000 installs on Android, as of press time. The game, which bills itself as a “youth experience baseball game,” places players in the role of a former senior league ace player, who was forced to quit due to an injury. They resolve to never pick up the bat again, as he moves to his grandmother’s home and enrolls in a new school. The player’s life is forever changed, though, when they meet Tsubasa Arihara, who persuades the player to manage their baseball team and eventually bring the team to the prestigious Koshien tournament.

The game revolves around compiling a team of players (from 50 in all as of press time), whom they train and up their skills. All the while, the player experiences their team’s stories, and their relationships grow.

Bkub Okawa, who is best known for creating Pop Team Epic, is producing a series of four-panel comics for the franchise. These are available on the game’s website, with 38 installments available as of press time.
