On December 24, the official BOFURI: I Don’t Want to Get Hurt, So I’ll Max Out My Defense anime website updated with a new trailer and visual, as well as nine cast members.

The two-minute trailer introduces the main plot beats, with character dialogue driving the core story. Opening theme song Kyūkyoku Unbalance! by Afilia Saga kicks in as a background track at the 20-second mark.

Shin Oonuma Shin Oonuma (Prisma Illya series, WATAMOTE) and Mirai Minato (Masamune-kun’s Revenge, Sunohara-Sō no Kanrinin-san) will co-direct the project at Silver Link, with Kazuya Hirata (Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya: Prisma Phantasm, Sunohara-Sō no Kanrinin-san) providing character designs. Fumihiko Shimo (New Game!, Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu!) is in charge of series composition.
The confirmed voice cast includes:

- Kuromu: Noriaki Sugiyama
- Kasumi: Saori Hayami
- Kanade: Satomi Arai

Yuumikan’s Itai no wa Iya nano de Bōgyoryoku ni Kyokufuri Shitai to Omoimasu. novels launched on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website in 2016. Kadokawa picked up the rights to the title, and releases it in print, with illustrations by Koin. The series currently spans six compiled volumes, with the most recent book hitting stores on April 10.
The series received a manga adapatation by Jiro Oimoto, which launched in Comp Ace magazine in May 2018. Manga resource Baka-Updates describes the title as:
