“Ascendance of a Bookworm” Anime Gets New Trailer

Earlier today, the official Ascendance of a Bookworm anime website updated with a new trailer. The two-minute trailer offers a look at the title in action, using theme song Biblia Fantasy by Miya Kazuki as a background track.

Ascendance of a Bookworm hits Japanese TV on October 2. The full broadcast schedule is as follows (All times JST):

  • AT-X: 10/9/2019 at 20:00 (10/9/2019 at 8:00PM)
  • Tokyo MX: 10/9/2019 at 22:00 (10/9/2019 at 10:00PM)
  • BS Fuji: 10/10/2019 at 24:00 (10/11/2019 at Midnight)

Ascendance of a Bookworm nime VisualMitsuru Hongo (Sakura Wars: The Movie, Kaasan – Mom’s Life) will direct the project at studio Ajiado, with the team of Toshihisa Kaiya (IGPX, Ruin Explorers – Fam & Ihrie) and Yoshiaki Yanagida (Spirit of Wonder, Genshiken) providing character designs. Mariko Kunisawa (Hatsukoi Limited, Magimoji Rurumo) is in charge of series composition.

J-Novel Club distributes the Ascendance of a Bookworm light novels in North America. They describe the title as:

A certain college girl who’s loved books ever since she was a little girl dies in an accident and is reborn in another world she knows nothing about. She is now Maine, the sickly five-year-old daughter of a poor soldier. To make things worse, the world she’s been reborn in has a very low literacy rate and books mostly don’t exist. She’d have to pay an enormous amounts of money to buy one. Maine resolves herself: If there aren’t any books, she’ll just have to make them! Her goal is to become a librarian.
