Before you ask, this isn’t about Cobra Kai. (And the bad jokes will never stop.)

Earlier today, the official Strike the Blood anime website updated with new details on upcoming OVA Strike the Blood III. Several cast members, plus a premiere date were unveiled. We break the details down below.

Cast

The series will add five cast members:

December: Lynn
Carly: Hikaru Akao
Rogi: Shun Horie
Raan: Anzu Haruno
Sengaku: Kousuke Toriumi

Premiere

The first volume will ship to stores on December 19. The current release schedule is as follows:

Volume 2: 3/27/2019
Volume 3: 5/29/2019
Volume 4: 7/24/2019
Volume 5: 9/25/2019

Strike the Blood III Visual The core team from the previous OVA will return to work on Strike the Blood III.

Hideyo Yamamoto (Strike The Blood, The Prince of Tennis II) will direct the project at studios Silver Link and Connect, as Keiichi Sano (Absolute Duo, Heaven’s Memo Pad) provides character designs. Hiroyuki Yoshino is in charge of series composition.

The confirmed voice cast includes:

Kojō Akatsuki: Yoshimasa Hosoya
Yukina Himeragi: Risa Taneda
Asagi Aiba: Asami Seto
Nagisa Akatsuki: Rina Hidaka
Sayaka Kirisaka: Ikumi Hayama
Motoki Yaze: Ryota Ohsaka
Natsuki Minamiya: Hisako Kanemoto
Astarte: Yuka Iguchi

The cast members are reprising their roles from previous entries in the series.

According to the official website, the new series will run through the end of the “Holy War” (“Seisen”) arc. This should carry the title through Light Novel Volume 17, plot-wise.

Strike the Blood was first released under ASCII Media Works’s Dengeki Bunko imprint in May 2011. The series spans eighteen volumes to date, the latest of which hit Japanese retailers on November 10, 2017.

The title spawned an ongoing manga in 2012, which currently runs in Dengeki Daioh magazine.

An anime adaptation of Strike the Blood was also produced, which aired during in the Fall 2013 broadcast season. Takao Sano served as chief director on the project at Silver Link, with Hideyo Yamamoto (The Prince of Tennis II) serving as director. Keiichi Sano (Absolute Duo) provided character designs on the project, while Hiroyuki Yoshino (Accel World, Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic) took charge of series composition.

The most recent OVA, Strike the Blood II, spanned eight episodes and ran from November 2016 through May 2017.

In North America, Yen Press distributes the Strike the Blood light novels and manga. Discotek Media currently holds the rights to the anime, which is available in its entirety on Crunchyroll.
