“Natsume’s Book of Friends” Movie Gets Catty In New Trailer

It’s not even Caturday yet! (Is… is that still a thing?)

Earlier today, the official Natsume’s Book of Friends anime website updated with a new teaser trailer for the upcoming theatrical film. The promo focuses on Nyanko-sensei, who’s been split into three.

The film will be titled Gekijōban Natsume Yūjin-Chō: Utsusemi ni Musubu (Natsume’s Book of Friends the Movie: Tied to the Temporal World) when it hits theaters on September 29.

Natsume's Book of Friends the Movie VisualTakahiro Ōmori (Baccano!, Hell Girl) will return as chief director for the project, while Hideki Ito takes the director’s chair at Shuka. Hiromitsu Hagiwara (Knights of Sidonia) is providing sub-character designs, while Sadayuki Murai (Boogiepop Phantom, Knights of Sidonia) returns to tackle series composition.

Returning characters are seeing their roles reprised by their original actors.

Natsume’s Book of Friends began airing in the summer 2008 season. To date, the series spans 52 episodes and a pair of side-story OVAs. The series is based on Yuki Midorikawa’s light novels, which kicked off in Hakusensha’s LaLa DX and LaLa magazines in 2005. To date, 22 volumes have been published.

The show’s sixth season aired during the Spring 2017 broadcast season. Crunchyroll streamed the show as part of their simulcast lineup, and describe it as:

Natsume Takashi has the ability to see spirits, which he has long kept secret. However, once he inherits a strange book that belonged to his deceased grandmother, Reiko, he discovers the reason why spirits surround him.
