In the words of Aniplex of America’s staff, “it’s a family show.”

Earlier today, the official Eromanga Sensei anime website updated with new details on the show’s upcoming OVAs. A new trailer, plus a premiere date were both confirmed.

We break the details down below.

The 30-second promo is narrated by Akake Fujita, in character as Sagiri. The spot cuts between various scenes, before ending on the title’s premiere details.

Launch Date

The Eromanga Sensei OVAs will be composed of two episodes, which will hit stores on January 16, 2019. The episodes are as follows:

  • Elf Yamada’s Love Song
  • Sagiri Izumi’s First Kiss

The OVAs were first announced on July 7, during A-1 Pictures’ industry panel at Anime Expo.

Eromanga Sensei Key VisualThe Eromanga Sensei anime TV series aired in the Spring 2017 broadcast season. Ryohei Takeshita directed the project at A-1 Pictures, with Hiroyuki Oda (OreImo, Eureka Seven AO) providing character designs. Tatsuya Takahashi (And you thought there is never a girl online?, Ms. Koizumi loves ramen noodles) was in charge of series composition for the title.

Aniplex of America currently holds the rights to the series, which they describe as:

Masamune Izumi is a high school student who writes light novels. Sagiri Izumi is a shut-in who never leaves her room. A year ago, she became Masamune’s little sister. But one day, Masamune discovers a shocking twist—The artist “Eromanga Sensei,” who has been drawing illustrations for his novels, is none other than his little sister Sagiri! His cute little shut-in of a sister, who has been living under his roof, is using an obscene pen name and draws lewd illustrations?!

This slapstick comedy about a light-novel author big brother and his little sister the illustrator brings a cast of charming characters surpassing even that of “Oreimo!”
