Crunchyroll Producing Spanish-Language Dubs for Free!, Re:ZERO, 5 More

Now, the big question will be “how well will the new actor capture Asta’s shouty nature?”

On July 18, Crunchyroll announced that they will produce Spanish-language dubs for seven new titles. The publisher will adapt the following. The number of episodes dubbed at launch are provided in parentheses.

Saga of Tanya the Evil

Youjo Senki: Saga of Tanya the Evil originally aired in the Winter 2017 broadcast season. The series is based on Carlo Zen and illustrator Shinobu Shinotsuki’s light novel series of the same name. Yutaka Uemura (Punch Line, The Mystic Archives of Dantalian) directed the show at Studio NuT, with Yuji Hosogoe providing character designs. Kenta Ihara was in charge of series composition.

Crunchyroll streamed Youjo Senki: Saga of Tanya the Evil as a simulcast, while Funimation produced a SimulDub for the title. Crunchyroll describes the show as:

It is June of the year CE 1923. A young girl with blond hair and blue eyes, Tanya Degurechaff, has entered the final curriculum of the Imperial Military Academy and is training at the third patrol line in the northern military district, the Norden Theater, as part of her service to the force. Her training, the first step toward a brilliant career as an aviation mage, should have gone off without a hitch… but things took an unexpected turn.

Free! Iwatobi Swim Club

Free! Iwatobi Swim Club is an original title from Kyoto Animation. The series, which hit Japanese TV on July 7, 2013, was directed by Hiroko Utsumi, with character designs by Futoshi Nishiya (Hyōka, Nichijou – My Ordinary Life). The team of Masahiro Yokotani and Reiko Yoshida wrote the show’s scripts.

Crunchyroll describes the show as follows:

Nanase Haruka loved to be in the water – loved swimming. In elementary school, Nanase Haruka, Tachibana Makoto, Matsuoka Rin, and Hazuki Nagisa attended the same swimming class together. Time passed, and as Haruka was living an uneventful high school life, he suddenly encountered Rin again. Rin challenged Haruka to a race and showed him how much stronger he had become. Soon enough, Makoto and Nagisa also rejoined the group, and along with a new classmate, Ryugazaki Rei, they established the Iwatobi High School Swimming Club.

Bungo Stray Dogs

Bungo Stray Dogs, which is based on Kafka Asagiri (writer) and Sango Harukawa’s (artist) manga series of the same name, hit Japanese TV in the Spring 2016 broadcast season. Takuya Igarashi (Captain Earth, Ouran High School Host Club) helmed the project at Bones, while Nobuhiro Arai (Chaika – The Coffin Princess) provides character designs. Yoji Enokido (Melody of Oblivion, Ouran High School Host Club) was in charge of the show’s scripts.

Crunchyroll streamed Bungo Stray Dogs as a simulcast. They describe the show as:

Kicked out of his orphanage and on the verge of starving to death, Nakajima Atsushi meets some strange men. One of them, Dazai Osamu, is a suicidal man attempting to drown himself in broad daylight. The other, bespectacled Kunikida Doppo, nervously stands by flipping through a notepad. Both are members of the “Armed Detective Agency” said to solve incidents that even the military and police won’t touch. Atsushi ends up accompanying them on a mission to eliminate a man-eating tiger that’s been terrorizing the population…

Black Clover

Black Clover is based on Yuki Tabata’s manga of the same name. Tatsuya Yoshihara (Monster Musume, Long Riders!) is directing the series at Studio Pierrot, with Itsuko Takeda (Ristorante Paradiso, Blue Drop) serving as character designer. Kazuyuki Fudeyasu (Monster Musume, Tantei Opera Milky Holmes) is in charge of series composition for the project.

In a world where magic is everything, Asta and Yuno are both found abandoned at a church on the same day. While Yuno is gifted with exceptional magical powers, Asta is the only one in this world without any. At the age of fifteen, both receive grimoires, magic books that amplify their holder’s magic. Asta’s is a rare Grimoire of Anti-Magic that negates and repels his opponent’s spells. Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid

Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid aired in the Winter 2017 broadcast season. The series is based on Coolkyoushinja’s (I Can’t Understand What My Husband Is Saying) manga of the same name.

Yasuhiro Takemoto (Lucky Star, Amagi Brilliant Park) directed the project at Kyoto Animation, with Miku Kadowaki (Beyond the Boundary, Amagi Brilliant Park) providing character designs. Yuka Yamada (Yuka Yamada, Umi Monogatari) was in charge of series composition.

Crunchyroll describes the show as:

Miss Kobayashi is your average office worker who lives a boring life, alone in her small apartment–until she saves the life of a female dragon in distress. The dragon, named Tohru, has the ability to magically transform into an adorable human girl (albeit with horns and a long tail!), who will do anything to pay off her debt of gratitude, whether Miss Kobayashi likes it or not. With a very persistent and amorous dragon as a roommate, nothing comes easy, and Miss Kobayashi’s normal life is about to go off the deep end!

Mob Psycho 100

The first season of the Mob Psycho 100 anime aired in the Summer 2016 broadcast season. Yuzuru Tachikawa (Death Parade) directed the project at Bones, while Yoshimichi Kameda (Paroru no Miraijima) provided character designs. Hiroshi Seko (Ajin – Demi-Human, Seraph of the End) was in charge of series composition on the project.

Crunchyroll describes the title as:

Kageyama Shigeo (a.k.a. Mob) is an 8th grader with powerful psychic abilities. Workingunder his not-so-capable master, Reigen, Mob uses his powers to exorcise evil spirits. But his will to be normal causes him to suppress his powers and feelings until he hits 100 percent — a point where his pent-up emotions are unleased and a darker power takes over.

Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-

Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- is based on Tappei Nagatsuki’s light novel series of the same name. The series originally began airing in the Spring 2016 broadcast season, and ran for two cours.

Masaharu Watanabe (Wakaba Girl) directed the project at White Fox, with Kyuta Sakai (Higurashi no Naku Koroni Kai, Steins;Gate) providing character designs. Masahiro Yokotani (The Devil is a Part-Timer!, Free! – Iwatobi Swim Club) was in charge of series composition.

Crunchyroll describes the title as:

Natsuki Subaru, an ordinary high school student, is on his way home from the convenience store when he finds himself transported to another world. As he’s lost and confused in a new world where he doesn’t even know left from right, the only person to reach out to him was a beautiful girl with silver hair. Determined to repay her somehow for saving him from his own despair, Subaru agrees to help the girl find something she’s looking for…
