Anime Boston 2019 Hosts North American Premieres for City Hunter: Shinjuku Private Eyes & Code Geass

On April 4, Anime Boston announced that they will host the North American premiere for City Hunter: Shinjuku Private Eyes. The event, which will be hosted on April 20 from 7 – 10 pm in the Sheraton Grand Ballroom, will include a Q&A session with Director Kenji Kodama, Screenwriter Yoichi Kato, and Producer Naohiro Ogata.

On April 5, the convention revealed that they will also host the North American premiere for Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection. The film will be shown on April 20 at 3:00PM in the Hynes Veterans Memorial Auditorium. The event will include a Q&A sesion with actors Johnny Yong Bosch and Yuri Lowenthal.

City Hunter: Shinjuku Private Eyes hit Japanese theaters on February 8.

Kenji Kodama (Kekkaishi, Case Closed) was tapped to direct the project at Sunrise, with Yoichi Kato (Aikatsu!, Yo-Kai Watch) writing the script. Kumiko Takahashi (Cardcaptor Sakura, Witch Hunter Robin) provided character designs.

The  film is the first entry into the mainline City Hunter anime franchise since 1999, which saw the airing of TV special Death of the Vicious Criminal Ryo Saeba. The feature will move the setting to current-day Shinjuku, away from the glitz and excesses of the bubble era that the original had spawned from.

Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection hit Japanese theaters on February 9.

Goro Taniguchi (Gun x Sword, Planetes) directed the film at Sunrise, with Takahiro Kimura (Dirty Pair Flash, SD Gundam Force) providing character designs. Ichiro Okouchi (Azumanga Daioh, Guilty Crown) wrote the movie’s script.
