Animation Director Keiichiro Kimura Passes Away

Earlier today, it was announced that animator, animation director and character designer Keiichiro Kimura passed away on October 19. He was 80. According to the report, Kimura suffered a heart attack. A funeral service was held for close family members, with son Takahiro Kimura serving as chief mourner.

Keiichiro Kimura has been active in the anime industry since 1961, when he joined Toei Animation. Through his career, Kimura was credited on more than thirty titles, including:

  • Berserk: The Golden Age Arc I – The Egg of the King (Key Animation)
  • Laughing Under the Clouds (Key Animation)
  • Mobile Suit Gundam Seed (Key Animation)
  • Tiger Mask (Character Design, Animation Director)
