Pastel Memories Anime VisualBut can we call it a memory if it hasn’t occurred yet…? So many rhetorical questions!

Earlier today, Sentai Filmworks announced that they acquired the exclusive rights to Pastel Memories. The publisher picked up the rights to the show in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Scandinavia.

Sentai will stream the series on select outlets as part of the Winter 2019 simulcast season. A home video release is planned for a later date.

They describe the show as:

Akihabara is known as a shining beacon for otaku culture everywhere. But in a not-to-distant the future, that culture is on the decline due to a mysterious affliction causing widespread memory loss. As a result, Akihabara has lost its luster. However, in one of the few remaining otaku shops, Izumi and a handful of comrades hatch a plan to restore lost memories and return “Akiba” to its former glory.

Pastel Memories will air on January 8, 2019, on Tokyo MX, Sun TV, KBS Kyoto, and BS Fuji.

Yasuyuki Shinozaki will direct Pastel Memories at studio Project No. 9, with Shin’ya Segawa (Garakowa -Restore the World-) providing character designs. Tsuyoshi Tamai (Bikini Warriors, Ladies Versus Butlers!) is in charge of series composition.

Players are tasked with managing an “otaku shop”, and raising “otaku girls” to do battle against a virus that infects the worlds of various works.
