Rent-A-Girlfriend Manga Gets Anime TV Series In 2020

Earlier today, an official website and Twitter account opened their doors to announce that Reiji Miyajima’s Rent-A-Girlfriend (Kanojo, Okarishimasu) manga will get an anime TV series. The core cast and crew members, along with a trailer and key visual were revealed for the project. We break the details down below.

The minute-long trailer introduces Chizuru and Kazuya, using their dialogue to deliver the base premise.

Key Visual

Staff

Kazuomi Koga (Rainy Cocoa, Welcome to Rainy Color) will direct the project at TMS Entertainment, with Kanna Hirayama providing character designs. Mitsutaka Hirota (Nanbaka, Mr. Tonegawa) is in charge of series composition, while Hyadain scores the soundtrack.

The confirmed voice cast includes:

  • Kazuya Kinoshita: Shun Horie
  • Chizuru Mizuhara: Sora Amamiya
  • Mami Nanami: Aoi Yūki
  • Ruka Sarashina: Nao Tōyama
  • Sumi Sakrasawa: Rie Takahashi

Rent-A-Girlfriend will air in July 2020.

Reiji Miyajima’s Rent-A-Girlfriend debuted in July 2017, in the pages of Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine. The series currently spans twelve compiled volumes, with the latest hitting stores on October 17.

Kodansha Comics currently holds the rights to the title, which they describe as:

In Japan, the lonely have a new way out — online services that rent out dads, children, even girlfriends! When Kazuya’s true love dumps him, he’s just desperate enough to try it, and he’s shocked at how cute and sweet his rental girlfriend turns out to be. But she wants to keep their “relationship” a secret, and there’s a complication… she goes to his university… and their grandmothers are in the same home… and they live next door to each other?! And Kazuya finds out she’s not nearly as nice in “real life”..
