I'm a big fan of Red Garden. It's a gothic horror story about four young women from different cliques who get drawn into a conflict between sketchy supernatural organizations. It feels kind of like a mashup of Madoka Magica and The Breakfast Club. It's also one of the most feminist-friendly anime I've ever seen, with each of the girls getting excellent development, almost zero fanservice, and some surprisingly progressive views for a 2007 anime.
